Eating Evolved Crunchy Caramel

Recently I attended the Natural Products Expo, an industry event which highlights trends in food, beverage, supplements and personal care products.  4 levels of the convention center filled with 1,450 vendors and attended by 28,000 people can be overwhelming; having only one day to see these products was impossible.  My goal was to talk with as many vendors as possible, focusing on product offerings for the Celiac/Gluten Sensitive Community.  I have put a list together of some of the products that I felt would be “Celiac Kid Friendly”.  Many of these products are available through Amazon, but others will need to be purchased through the company, or retailers such as Whole Foods, Mom’s Organic Market, Sprouts, or The Vitamin Cottage.

Cappello’s Gluten and Grain Free:  This company produces Fresh/Frozen Lasagna Sheets, Gnocchi, Fettuccine as well as Pizza, and Vegan Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate, Ginger and Lemon Zest Cookie Doughs.  Products contain a short list of natural ingredients and all products are gluten and grain free.  https://cappellos.com

Bonafide Provisions:  All natural Bone Broth that tasted almost as good as my homemade broth.  Use the “Find Bone Broth” in the menu bar to locate a retailer in your area.  http://bonafideprovisions.com

Siete Almond Flour Tortillas:  These are probably the best grain free tortillas I have tried, flexible enough to roll without breaking into a million pieces.  These tortillas are Paleo (grain free), Gluten Free, Non-GMO, Vegan, Dairy Free.   http://sietefoods.com/collections/tortillas

Raw Wraps:  An alternative to tortillas.  These gluten free wraps are also corn, soy, nut, egg and dairy free.  Made from fruits and vegetables these 9.5 inch wraps are soft and pliable.  Loaded with vitamins (A,C,K), antioxidants, minerals, fiber, polyphenols and flavonoids but packed with flavor. Bonus: they do not require refrigeration.  http://www.rawwraps.org

The Greater Knead:  This company is producing gluten, dairy, soy, egg, nut, and sesame free bagels.  I did not try these because they contain Sorghum, but they looked good.  Note: that their website is not yet up and running.  www.thegreaterknead.com

Unreal:  This company produces gluten free candy made without artificial colors and fair trade cocoa.  One of the reasons I like these chocolates is that they are lower in sugar.   Candy Coated Chocolates (think M&M’s), Peanut Butter Cups (smooth and crispy varieties) and available at Target, Whole Foods, Sprouts, or online.  http://getunreal.com/pages/buy
